Math calculates odds for a marriage

"In a report at the national meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Gottman said studies by his Relationship Research Institute and the University of Washington show that how couples resolve differences is a key factor in whether a marriage will last."

Basically, there are three types of relationships:

The Passionate
This is a volatile relationship where the couple regularly experiences heightened moods. These are more prone to the "I hate you" and "I love you" syndromes.

The Avoiders
This relationship thrives on not hurting each others feelings by not saying much to each other. They may be unemotional and distant, but they do tend to endure

The Validators
These are couples who speak and listen to each other. They respect each others opinion and only argue occasionally (BTW, this is the type of person I am).

The Problem
Mathematically, these scientists measure a point scale for each person in the relationship. If the two don't measure up to the same category of the other person, they will most likely get a divorce.

When the mathematical marriage calculations are made, there's also a neutral point. If there is "a steep descent on the chart below the neutral point, predicts a couple will divorce within 5.6 years after marriage." If there is "a more gentle descending slope below the neutral point, suggesting an “emotional disengagement,” predicts a divorce within 16.2 years after marriage".

Final Thought
As technology grows, it tends to make the trend of love in a more scientific approach. But, unfortunately/fortunately we fall in love too quickly. In the end though, really know who you're marrying...you just might end up in a divorce quicker than you think. At least these scientific dating methods allow you to learn about your partner in a quicker pace.

WHAT ON EARTH - the oddest, yet most addictive site on the internet

Now I've seen many sites in my time, but this has to be one of the oddest, yet most interesting ways to advertise on the internet. What on Earth's idea was to bring pizza and organic together. So, what did they do? Oh, just create a world! As you enter (and when the sound loads up), you'll see a vast landscape where you can randomly click on things and they do "something". This "something" can be from clicking on the plane (and hear the captain speaking) to clicking on the bear. And, according to them, they do not shit in the woods...I guess they would rather shit with a scenic river view. In any case, take some time. It's amazing how much it grows on you. Addictive...yes. Wastes my time (hell, I'm writing an article about this, what do you think?)...yes. But, all in all, the subtle nature of the site makes you enjoy learning about their pizzas and not just reading the menu.

Take a look at it...you'll be glad that you wasted some time on the earth's oddest, yet addictive site - http://www.whatonearth.co.uk.

Florida Everglades Seafood Festival - Review

I just arrived back from the seafood festival down in the everglades. During the event, there are more than 60000 people who attend...and believe me, it's true! The first thing you'll notice is that the traffic is quite unbearable...especially if you have the temper of the driver in front of me. Personally, I thought this guy's head was going to pop off. I've never heard so many profanities in my life! At least it kept me entertained for the hour-long stop and go traffic.

When I arrived (parking was $5...not too bad), I reviewed the area and noticed that it looked just like your local carnival...but with alot of bikers. The food was above quality festival food and there were a ton of vendors. Although the bikers were around, it's not too bad of a place to bring the kids. They had some rides, vendors selling their latest and greatest, and even had a nice museum to tell about the everglades.

As with most of the carnival-types out there, the people make the difference. Generally, people were in a great mood due to the great music playing that day. I personally believe anyone feels great when the weather isn't below zero (unlike our good friends up north). All in all, I got a good vibe from all.

Review conclusion:
I give it a 6 out of 10. I've got to be honest here folks. The traffic stunk from and to the seafood festival. But the atmosphere when I arrived was above average. The main question I have is "why would I drive through all that bad traffic when I can get the same thing much closer"? And, considering that the collier county festival AND the edison festival (in fort myers) were in the same weekend, I might give them a try first.

The Streaker at Super Bowl 38

He said he would do it. Mark Roberts of the UK was found streaking after the halftime show of the super bowl. After a long camera pan-out from CBS, the game continued after the 1.6 million in security dragged him off the field.

As reported by philly.com: "After removing his clothes, the man stood in front of Carolina kicker John Kasay and started to perform something that vaguely resembled the Riverdance. At that point, he was wearing only a jockstrap and an official's cap. He also had a message written in black marker on his chest and back."

And, to make the nudity even better, the halftime show itself bared Janet Jackson's right breast. Boy, what a night for nudity!

Start of a New Era

From now on, this blog will mainly be concerned with me, Brian Zajac. All of my naples internet marketing and design info will go to my EyeMagination site. So, change is good, right? Well, time will tell...but I'm hoping that I won't make you snore reading this.

What to expect?
Less of the techy, more of the personal. In order to really look back on my life, I want to create this online diary...devoid of insecurities and shyness - a quality which I've grown up with. Hopefully, I can gain an insight to it all by knowing that you're reading this. And by all means, comment on it. There's a comment field at the bottom of each post or you can feel free to sign my guestbook.

What now?
My first post...never better than to start right now -->

Tonight and this weekend seems to shine introspection. Friday night is a usual time when I go out. But it's been raining here in naples and I feel like my old times in Ohio...rainy, dreary, and full of lonliness. Meditation clears my mind but TV is an easier escape.

As the weekend progresses on, I watch a pretty good movie tonight after dinner at red lobster. The name? The Butterfly Effect w/ Ashton Kutcher. One of the things I've taken from the movie is his diary; and the way he manipulates it. He tries to make life more perfect each time he alters life by revisiting his diary. But, each time it gets worse. In any case, some of the events are quite tramatic...which brought back feelings to my near and dear friend. She didn't have to say it, I knew it. Hopefully, I helped coax some of the pain out and she'll sleep well tonight.

As for me, I got to thinking about my family. Today I bought a CD for my mother and nothing for my father. When I buy, do I have to buy for both? Of course not, but it feels wierd. Especially since I can only think of getting items for mom, not dad. Then I realized that I've always had that special connection with my mother. Although my dad can never be better, we just don't have certain bonds as I grew up with my mother. I guess that's why most of my friends are women.

But recognizing life's patterns are a way to change them. Although I won't speak of it, I'm going to try and include some more moments with my father. They won't be around forever, so I consider this time especially valuable to get to know my father.

So, entry #1 ends on a heavy note. But, it's good to get it off my chest. I hope by an entry in 2005, this issue will be resolved. What a waste to not explore such a great man...
