Online Shopping Coupons and Discounts
During these economic downturns, we all need to find a way to save our money. Below are some of the best methods I use to find products on the cheap...

Option #1: The General Way to Shop for Coupons - this can work for almost any store.

1. Go to Google
2. Type in your product name plus the word "coupon" (example: Lancome coupon)
Keep in mind that some sites may want you to connect with other sites...be careful as a few sites will try to get your information or create a phishing scheme. The sites I've found that I seem to always come back to are www.dealtaker.com & www.retailmenot.com (includes comments from others).

Option #2: Compare Your Price with Other Customers Online

Go to http://www.beatmyprice.com
1. Open up a new browser window & find the item you wanted online.
2. Follow their steps & see a comparison online

Option #3: Get the Best Prices Emailed to You

1. If you can wait for the good price to come for you, go to http://shoppingnotes.com/.
2. Just like with http://www.beatmyprice.com, you will need to find the item you want online & add it on the web page.
3. Add in your email address and you will receive updates via email.
4. (Optional) Sign up and you can manage the email alerts you get.

Option #4: Google Products (Formally called "Froogle")

1. Let Google search for the best products online. Go to http://www.google.com/products
2. It works just like Google, but it’s specifically made for products. Do a search & see the item listed from many stores.

Option #5: Discounts on Technology (Especially Dell)

This place is great for discounts on technology. I get most of my Dell coupons here (even the elusive 20% off refurbished Inspirons / Studio Notebooks)
1. Go to http://www.techbargains.com/
2. The site is updated many times a day. I suggest getting an iGoogle home page and using an RSS feed for this site (explained below).
3. You can also find discounts per store (where I usually find the Dell discounts) by looking on the right side of the screen. For quicker access, hold "Control" + "F" on your keyboard. Then search for the store on the page.

Option #6: Putting it Altogether in iGoogle & RSS Feeds

If you don't like your home page, I suggest getting an iGoogle home page. You add whatever components that you're looking for online. And, through the power of RSS, you get all the web site updates sent to you numerous times a day.

1. Get an iGoogle account. If you have GMail, you already have an iGoogle account. All you need to do is to log into the account.
2. After you have your iGoogle account (i.e. if you home page is http://www.google.com/ig), you can add this as a RSS feed and have the deals come to you.
3. Let's add the techbargains RSS feed. While still in your iGoogle home page, click "add stuff". Do a search for "techbargains". Once you see it, click "add it now".
4. Once you've added it, click on "back to iGoogle home". Viola! It's been added.

There are many other tricks out there to get the best deals online. Just start by experimenting with these and it will save you thousands of dollars per year. If you have any additional ideas, I'd love to hear them. Happy discount shopping!

Dell Laptop Sleep Problem - SOLVED!
I recently got a Dell Inspiron 1525 and others around me got the Dell Studio versions. While Vista has it's ups and downs, I found out something VERY annoying with these Dells running on Windows Vista - they can't sleep! I swear this was worse than putting a small child to bed after they ate a pound of sugar! In random occassions of putting my Dell "to sleep", my computer would crash & I would have to reboot. After scouring the internet, I came across a post where someone named "Krystyne20" had the answer. Here is her response:

1. To disable sleep on the wireless card, go to the START menu and click on "Computer".
Click the toolbar button that says "System Properties". (You can also get here from the Control Panel).
2. In the taskbar pane at the left, click the link that says "Device Manager".
3. Click "Continue" on the warning popup.
4. Double click on "Network adaptors" in the list of devices.
5. Double click on "Dell wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card".
6. Click on the "Power Management" tab.
7. Uncheck the entry that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
8. Click OK and close the other windows.

Give this a try. In most cases, it will relieve you of your Windows Vista sleeping situation.
