Dell Laptop Sleep Problem - SOLVED!
I recently got a Dell Inspiron 1525 and others around me got the Dell Studio versions. While Vista has it's ups and downs, I found out something VERY annoying with these Dells running on Windows Vista - they can't sleep! I swear this was worse than putting a small child to bed after they ate a pound of sugar! In random occassions of putting my Dell "to sleep", my computer would crash & I would have to reboot. After scouring the internet, I came across a post where someone named "Krystyne20" had the answer. Here is her response:

1. To disable sleep on the wireless card, go to the START menu and click on "Computer".
Click the toolbar button that says "System Properties". (You can also get here from the Control Panel).
2. In the taskbar pane at the left, click the link that says "Device Manager".
3. Click "Continue" on the warning popup.
4. Double click on "Network adaptors" in the list of devices.
5. Double click on "Dell wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card".
6. Click on the "Power Management" tab.
7. Uncheck the entry that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
8. Click OK and close the other windows.

Give this a try. In most cases, it will relieve you of your Windows Vista sleeping situation.
